Olive Pits

Olive Pits are a byproduct of the olive oil extraction process. During this process, olives are crushed using mills and then centrifuged to separate the oil from the solid materials. The remaining by-products include pits and cake. To isolate the olive pits, the mixture is screened, washed, and dried, resulting in rice-sized crushed olive stones. The physical and chemical characteristics of crushed olive pits make them an excellent alternative for a diverse range of clients in power, heat, and process heat production sectors.

    CM Biomass primarily sources crushed olive pits from regions including Iberia, North Africa, and Turkey. These regions are known for their extensive olive oil production, which generates significant quantities of olive pits as byproducts.

    Availability

    Olive Pit production occurs throughout the year, with peak availability during the harvesting season from October to February. Approximately 15% of the olive mass consists of pits. CM Biomass has a robust sourcing capacity, although this is subject to seasonal variations. This ensures a steady supply of crushed olive pits to meet growing demand.

    Over 95% of the biomass we supply originates from residue streams, including sawmills, vegetable oil production, and deshelling processes. By repurposing these materials, we support local waste management and provide an alternative
